Throughout history, addiction science has morphed from the pull yourself by the bootstraps to the disease model to newer theories around learning and attachment. This presentation will address the historical reasons behind the disease model of addiction and its shortcomings. Shedding light on new theories of learning and attachment and how having a comprehensive knowledge of the various pathways to addiction and recovery helps clients achieve their goals.
